Tumble 22 - Texas Chicken Joint

Sitting across from HEB, Tumble 22 is a hot chicken restaurant known for their “Texas-raised chicken that’s hand-breaded and tumbled precisely twenty two times for the perfect crunch.” A fun, casual spot with hot chicken, cold beer, a full bar, fries and indulgent ice cream shakes. Their hot chicken spice level ranging from painless to “stupid hot” on a 6 level heat scale is embedded in the breading as a dry rub to bring some heat to your meal. Two of us ordered hot chicken sandwiches and shared a large side of fries and a peanut butter cookie dough shake. Both sandwiches were loaded with flavor and wonderful texture from the fresh coleslaw and bread and butter pickles. Seats are available at booths, the bar, or outside, covered tables. A great place to catch up or catch a game on the big screen. Welcome to San Marcos!

Their spice levels range from “Wimpy” to “Stupid Hot,” and they’re not messing around — but even the spiciest options still have tons of flavor. The sides are just as stellar. The fries are golden and seasoned just right, the mac & cheese is creamy and rich, and don't even get me started on the banana pudding — it’s a must-order every time. Portions are generous, the prices are fair, and everything comes out hot and fresh. Whether you're stopping in for a quick lunch, bringing out-of-town guests, or just craving some comfort food with a kick, Tumble 22 delivers every single time. Highly recommend. I had such a wonderful experience at Tumble 22 in San Marcos! I actually came in feeling pretty rough with a migraine, but by the time I left, I felt so much better — the atmosphere was calm and soothing, which really helped. The waitress was incredibly kind and patient, making me feel comfortable and cared for throughout my visit. I tried their deviled eggs appetizer, and it was absolutely delicious — full of flavor and perfectly prepared. For my meal, I had a salad that was incredibly fresh and tasty, and I also sampled some of the chicken tenders, which were a big hit! My kids loved their meals too, and they said everything was incredible. The service truly stood out; the staff was attentive without being overbearing, friendly, and genuinely caring. The location is easy to find with good parking, and the whole vibe is warm and inviting. This is definitely a place I’ll be going back to. I loved everything about it — the food, the service, and the relaxing environment. Highly recommend if you’re in San Marcos!

Absolutely phenomenal experience at the new Tumble 22 in San Marcos! The chicken sandwich was perfectly crispy with just the right level of heat. The dark meat 1/4 was juicy and flavorful, and the white meat was tender. The deviled eggs and dirty fries, and honestly, they could be meals on their own. The deviled eggs had just enough kick to keep things interesting, and the fries were next-level with all the toppings. The mac and cheese was ultra creamy and rich. Southern comfort food at its finest. And the margarita? Strong, fresh, and balanced. The staff was super friendly, the service was fast, and the vibe is fun and relaxed. Can’t wait to comeback!

The food here was amazing. Really fresh, tasty and crispy chicken. The OG Sandwich was unbelievable. Salted Caramel Milkshake also very good. Can highly recommend the place. Service was perfect.

They do so many things right! Andy was an amazing server and an even better human. All around great vibes from her. The food was hot, delicious and priced extremely well. The Pecan Milkshake is worth the potential diabetes. Keep up the great job guys can’t wait to come back
